Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main is the national level undergraduate engineering entrance exam organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The entrance exam is the gateway for the admission to various undergraduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the AIEEE score, mainly 31 National Institutes of Technology(NITs) and 23 Indian Institute of Information Technology(IIITs). It is also the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced which qualifys candidates to get admitted in the 23 IITs.

The JEE Main, 2019 will be held for 2 papers where Paper-I will be for B.Tech admissions and Paper-II for B.Arch admissions. From the year 2019, the exams will be conducted in computer based mode twice a year. The better of the two scores will be used for the purpose of ranking as per the regulations laid by the authorities.

The Eligibility Criteria

Age: Currently the NTA has removed the age limit. Candidates, however, must pass 10+2 or equivalent examination in 2017, 2018 or should be appearing for the same in 2019, irrespective of their birth date.

Qualifying Examinations:  Candidates must have passed class 12 or equivalent exam.

 Subjects to be Qualified in: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject, Language and any other subject.

Qualifying Marks for Admission into IITs, NITs, IIITs and CFTIs: Candidates must score a minimum of 75% marks or should be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards. For candidates belonging to SC/ST category minimum scores required is 65%.  

For JEE Main Paper-II- Candidates seeking admission to the architecture course must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics along with 50% marks (aggregate) in the qualifying examination. No Diploma holder is eligible for the entrance exam.
